The 2014 South American Rugby Championship B division tournament was held at the Estadio Santiago Rambay in Apartadó, Colombia over three match days during August and September 2014. The South American Rugby Championship was organized by the Confederación Sudamericana de Rugby (CONSUR).

The Costa Rica national rugby union team represents Costa Rica in international rugby union. The nation have yet to play in a Rugby World Cup tournament. The Costa Rica national rugby team played their first international in 2005 defeating their opponents Panama by 60–0.

The South American Rugby Championship refers to the continental rugby union championships for South America, organized by Sudamérica Rugby. The current name of the championships is South American Six Nations, implemented in 2018. South American championships have also existed for lower divisions of the rugby union championships, as well as youth and women tournaments, and editions for rugby sevens.

Sudamérica Rugby, is the governing body for rugby union within South America and most of Central America. It was created on 14 October 1988 in Asunción on the initiative of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay, counting with a total of 16 unions.

The Sudamérica Rugby Women's Sevens, is the regional championship for women's international rugby sevens in South America. It has been contested since 2004. The tournament is held over two days, typically on a weekend. It is sanctioned and sponsored by Sudamérica Rugby.

The 2010 South American Rugby Championship "B" was the 11th edition of the second-tier competition of the leading national rugby union teams in South America. Division B was organised in Medellin (Colombia) from 24 to 31 October 2010. The participating nations were Colombia, Peru, Venezuela and Costa Rica.

In the Americas Region for 2015 Rugby World Cup qualifying, Argentina had automatically qualified for the World Cup, and two places were available in the Americas qualification process, which were taken by Canada and the United States. An additional Americas team, Uruguay, also qualified as the Play-off winner.

The Confederación Sudamericana de Rugby (CONSUR) B Division Championship in Valencia, Venezuela was played out during September 2012. The championship doubled as a 2015 Rugby World Cup qualifier, with the winner to play against the 2012 NACRA Caribbean champions, Bermuda, for the right to playoff against Brazil. The winner of this final match would be promoted to the 2013 CONSUR Division "A" Championship.

The Confederación Sudamericana de Rugby (CONSUR) Championship C Division Championship took place between 2 and 8 December 2012 at Estadio de la Democracia in Guatemala City, Guatemala. This was the first time CONSUR had run a 3rd division championship.

The 2013 Women's South American Volleyball Championship was the 30th edition of the Women's South American Volleyball Championship, organised by South America's governing volleyball body, the Confederación Sudamericana de Voleibol (CSV). The tournament was played in Ica, Peru from September 18 to 22, 2013.

The 2014 South American Rugby Championship Division A was the first edition of the newly formatted South American Rugby Championship, which included promotion and relegation. Unlike in previous years, a host country or city was not chosen; rather, CONSUR opted to spread the tournament around South America. This was the first time since 1981 that Argentina did not compete, due to the new format of the competition.

The Confederación Sudamericana de Rugby (CONSUR) Championship C Division Championship took place between 5 and 11 October 2014 at Ciudad Deportiva Kiwanis in Clayton, Panama. This was the third time CONSUR had run a 3rd division championship.

The 2015 South American Rugby Championship Division A was the second edition of the newly formatted South American Rugby Championship, which included promotion and relegation. CONSUR chose not to elect a host country or city, opting instead to spread the tournament around South America. For Uruguay, the tournament acted as preparation matches ahead of their appearance in the 2015 Rugby World Cup, their first since 2003. In addition to this, on 23 April, Uruguay took a week out of this tournament, to host a friendly match against the USA Select side.

The 2015 CONSUR Cup was the second year of the top division of Confederación Sudamericana de Rugby. Argentina were automatic seeds into the competition, with the top two teams from the 2014 South American Rugby Championship "A", Paraguay and Uruguay, playing alongside Los Pumas. For the second consecutive year, Argentina won the tournament, remaining as the top South American side.

The Campeonato Nacional de Clubes is an annual rugby union tournament contested by men's clubs in Venezuela. It is organised by the Venezuelan Rugby Federation. The competition began in 1976 with a match between the teams Rugby Club Caracas and Anaucos Rugby Club. Rugby Club Caracas won the match and became the champion in that year.

The Venezuela women's national rugby sevens team is Venezuela's representative team in rugby sevens for women. They competed at the 2015 CONSUR Women's Sevens, they placed third and qualified for the Olympic Repechage Tournament in Dublin. They also competed in the South American Women's Rugby Sevens Championship in Brazil in 2016.

The 2004 CONSUR Women's Sevens was the first edition of the CONSUR Women's Sevens and was held at Barquisimeto, Venezuela on 20 and 21 April 2004. Brazil won the inaugural tournament after defeating Venezuela in the final.
